Les perspectives de la discipline étaient au menu du Conseil fédéral de la Fédération béninoise d’Athlétisme (Fba) tenu le samedi 23 mai 2020. A la fin, le Secrétaire général, Achille Aïhou évoque l’avenir de l’Athlétisme béninois.
« Nous avons aussi indiqué les perspectives. Vous savez, le Gouvernement à travers le Pag est en train de construire des stades à travers le pays et les villes dans lesquelles ces stades sont construits, nous n’avions pas d’association. Nous avons décidé de motiver nos Ligues régionales à travailler pour la mise en place d’association sportive dans le but de développer et d’utiliser judicieusement ces différentes installations pour le développement de l’athlète et de l’athlétisme. La relecture de nos textes doit nous permettre aussi de mettre les gardes fours pour qu’il n’y ait pas de création tous azimuts des clubs. En plus, nous avons été éligibles au dividende olympique pour l’athlétisme qui est un projet de la Fédération internationale visant à appuyer les fédérations par une subvention liée à un programme. Le Bénin a été éligible à la première édition sur un projet que j’avais conçu. Dans cette dynamique, nous avons fait l’analyse au niveau technique que nous avons des Ligues qui ne sont pas au même niveau de développement que les trois autres notamment la Ligue Atacora – Donga, Mono – Couffo, Zou – Collines. Nous avons axé ce programme pour soumettre à world athletic dans ces localités pour d’abord impacter le développement de l’athlétisme ».
