Un an après la 3ème édition réussie, les organisateurs se préparent activement pour la tenue de l’édition 2020 (4ème) du Festival de Maracana d’Abomey Calavi (FesMAC). Initiative de l’Association béninoise des amis du Maracana (Abam) que préside Nassirou Saka, ce tournoi est créé pour favoriser un brassage entre pratiquants de la discipline et donner l’opportunité aux équipes de sortir de la léthargie, car en dehors du championnat national, il n’y avait pas d’autres tribunes offertes pour mettre en jambe les maracaniers.
Prévue pour avoir lieu en avril dernier, cette 4ème édition aura lieu finalement, le samedi 19 décembre 2020 sur le terrain de Handball de l’Université d’Abomey-Calavi. » Malgré la crise sanitaire liée au Coronavirus dans le monde entier, nous avons décidé de tenir notre engagement avant la fin de l’année tout en tenant compte des mesures barrières en vigueur afin de protéger les athlètes et le public « ; indique le Président Nassirou Saka. Il est donc prévu à cet effet : les mécanismes de lave mains, le gel hydro alcoolique, le port de masque et le respect de la distanciation sociale.
Ainsi, à défaut de faire revenir les Nigériens et les ivoiriens qui étaient déjà au Bénin en 2008 pour le Festival international du Maracana (Fimac) et les togolais en 2019, Abam Open, Abam Senior, Mva, Smc, 1000 Héros, Sacr, Élite de Bohicon, Maracana Club de Sékou, Maracana Club de Ouidah, Rafale de Hêvié seront à la lutte pour succéder à Maracana club de l’Amitié (Mca) et décrocher le trophée doté d’une enveloppe financière de 100 mille Francs Cfa.
Justement au sujet, des récompenses, la particularité de cette année est l’élargissement des récompenses. En effet, pour cette édition, le club vice-champion et la troisième équipe auront respectivement un trophée plus une enveloppe de 50 mille Francs Cfa et un trophée plus une enveloppe de 20 mille Francs Cfa.
