Dans ce huitième numéro de la rubrique ‘’Mot Juste ‘’, Bénin Sports a choisi de vous parler d’une expression utilisée en basketball : le finger roll. Le finger roll (roulé sur les doigts) est un terme anglais qui signifie une manière de mettre le panier au basketball. Il a été développé pour la première fois dans les années 1960 par Wilt Chamberlain, il consiste à amener la balle vers le panier en la faisant rouler sur le bout des doigts.
En effet, cette technique est généralement réalisée lorsque l’espace vers le panier est relativement libre, le joueur saute et maintient le ballon en l’air en le soutenant avec la paume de main puis fléchit les doigts tout en effectuant un petit mouvement du poignet pour lancer. Son principal avantage est d’emmener la balle suffisamment haut pour éviter les contres des défenseurs adverses.
Rappelons que c’est la légende des Spurs de San Antonio Georges Gervin , meilleur marqueur NBA à quatre reprises (1978,1979,1980 et 1982) qui popularisa l’utilisation du finger roll réputé être une technique très difficile à maîtriser qui s’adresse aux joueurs expérimentés.
