Le Trésorier général de la Fédération Béninoise de Wushu, David César Ataï, à la veille de la tenue du Championnat national a dressé le bilan de la saison écoulée et il a levé un coin de voile sur les perspectives de 2020.
Bilan de la saison 2019 : notre saison a démarré en mars 2019. Et de mars à janvier 2020, on peut retenir notre participation aux compétitions internationales, à savoir le premier championnat d’Afrique de Wushu traditionnel organisé à Mehmet en Tunisie (Avril 2019) à l’issu duquel le Bénin a glané 3 médailles (une en argent et 2 en bronze) ; le deuxième championnat d’Afrique de Sanda en Tunisie (une médaille en argent) ; le tournoi international de Wushu de Huang Chan en Chine (Juillet 2019). Je peux vous dire que devant 1250 athlètes, c’est notre athlète qui a remporté la médaille en or en taïchi djinn et une médaille en argent. Ce sacre de notre athlète fait partie des meilleures prouesses que nous avons eues. En septembre 2019, précisément du 5 au 10, nous avons participé au championnat d’Afrique de Wushu moderne. Cela a regroupé 14 pays et nous avons pu remporter 6 médailles (une en or, 2 en argent et 3 en bronze). L’athlète Nocalbert Assogba qui avait gagné la médaille d’or au tournoi international de Wuhan Chang était mis en condition pour participer au championnat du monde, mais pour faute de santé, il n’a pas pu compétir. Malheureusement, nous étions au championnat du monde, mais nous n’avons pas pu prendre part à la compétition. Nous avons aussi participé au congrès électif de la fédération international de Wushu. Au plan local, nous n’avons pas connu de tournois majeurs. Le seul qu’on s’apprête à organiser, le championnat national est une activité statutaire.
Les perspectives de 2020 : En 2020, nous envisageons participer sur le plan international au championnat ouest africain qui aura lieu à Niamey (Niger), au championnat du monde junior qui se tiendra pour la première fois en Afrique au Maroc et au tournoi des 4 nations de Wushu que la Côte d’Ivoire organise. Mais retenez que la majeure partie de nos énergies sera réservée aux activités au plan national.
