Ce vendredi 08 décembre 2023 est gravé dans la mémoire des sportifs béninois qui ont eu droit à une édition spéciale du « Gala des Champions ». Au total, 284 meilleurs sportifs issus de 17 disciplines sportives ont été célébrés au Palais des Congrès de Cotonou. Chaque lauréat est rentré chez lui avec un trophée et une enveloppe financière.
284 meilleurs sportifs béninois issus de 17 disciplines sportives étaient à l’honneur dans la salle rouge du Palais des Congrès de Cotonou dans le cadre de l’édition spéciale du «Gala des Champions » qu’organise le Ministère des Sports du Bénin à travers le Fonds national pour le développement des activités de jeunesses et des loisirs (Fndajsl). À travers cette initiative louable, frappée du sceau de la reconnaissance et du mérite, le ministère des Sports a célébré les meilleurs sportifs ayant gagné des médailles ou trophées aux différentes compétitions internationales auxquelles le Bénin a pris part de 2019 en 2022.
« L’objectif de cette édition spéciale est d’encourager et de motiver les lauréats afin qu’ils puissent rééditer l’exploit ou réaliser de meilleures performances » ; a indiqué le ministre des Sports Benoît Dato avant d’encourager les autres à faire mieux. Membre du Conseil d’administration du Fndajsl et Président du Comité national olympiques et sportifs béninois (Cnos Ben), Julien Minavoa a fait savoir que le « « Gala des Champions » est aussi et surtout un moyen d’inciter d’autres sportifs à leur emboîter les pas pour révéler davantage notre pays dans les différentes disciplines concernées ».
Au total 17 disciplines sportives sont touchées : Il s’agit de : l’athlétisme, du Karaté, du Taekwondo, du Wushu, du Judo, du Roller Sports, du Tennis, du Badminton, du Volley Ball, du Handball, de la Pétanque, du Tennis de table, du Cyclisme, du Paralympique, de la Gymnastique et de la boxe.
