L’univers du football béninois enregistre la naissance d’un nouveau club. Il s’agit du club dénommé LES CONQUERANTS dont les activités ont été officiellement lancées le dimanche 05 Février 2023 sur le stade omnisport de Djakotomey, dans le département du Couffo, au détour d’un match de sélection ayant connu la présence de plusieurs autorités politico-administratives, des acteurs du football et des populations.
Ce club est porté par l’Association Sportive Les Conquérants présidée par Fernand DOMANOU, un entrepreneur autour duquel se regroupent des jeunes et autres cadres de la commune de Djakotomey. L’objectif poursuivi par cette Association, selon le Porte-parole Félicien Fangnon, est d’abord de donner l’opportunité aux jeunes footballeurs d’exprimer et de valoriser leurs talents, ensuite, accompagner la vision du Président Patrice Talon qui consiste à faire la promotion du sport dans le pays en construisant des stades modernes puis enfin, fédérer les énergies et les forces du Couffo autour du Football. 
Ce club, le premier et le seul de cette envergure à avoir l’adhésion des cadres et des populations du Couffo envisage se révéler au peuple béninois très bientôt à travers sa participation au championnat amateur qui démarre dans ce mois de Février 2023. L’Association Sportive les Conquérants (ASC) a été créée en Mars 2022 dans le but de promouvoir des activités sportives. Elle a son siège à Djakotomey dans le département du Couffo et a pour but de promouvoir le sport et donner l’opportunité aux jeunes et adolescents d’exprimer leurs talents dans plusieurs disciplines sportives.
En acceptant être porté à la tête de cette Association Sportive, Fernand DOMANOU s’est engagé à œuvrer pour redonner aux populations du Couffo, le goût du sport et doter le département d’équipes sportives dignes du nom. C’est ainsi qu’avec son bureau, il a entamé des démarches depuis Mars 2022 à la création de l’ASC. Aujourd’hui, tout est au point. L’équipe de Football est formée et dispose des moyens nécessaires pour prendre aux différentes compétitions. A partir de ce mois de Février, l’équipe s’est inscrite pour participer au championnat amateur.
Jules TEDE, le Coach de cette équipe naissante a promis, dimanche que ses poulains feront très mal lors de leurs prestations. Il a remercié les membres de l’Association pour les moyens déployés au profit de cette équipe. Dans quelques semaines, l’ASC montera son équipe de football féminin.
