Les Championnats nationaux junior et senior d’haltérophilie, pour le compte de l’année 2019 se sont déroulés, le vendredi 27 décembre 2019, au Palais des sports du Stade de l’Amitié Général Mathieu Kérékou de Cotonou. Ces Championnats ont enregistré la participation de plusieurs clubs venus de tout le Bénin.
Il s’agit notamment de : Joker Sport de Cotonou; Tigres de Djakomey; Éléphants de l’Ouémé; Bulldozer du Septentrion; Guépard Omnisports de Parakou et de Gazelle de Savalou. Les athlètes se sont affrontés dans trois catégories à savoir : -62 kg; -69 kg; -77 kg et -87kg. Les épreuves auxquelles ils ont été soumis sont : l’Arrachée; l’Èpaule et la Jetée. Aux termes de la compétition, les meilleurs athlètes primés ont noms : Ethienne Koukè, -62 Kg; Donald Quenum, -69Kg; Kevin Kakpo, -77Kg et Hébert Tolofon, -87Kg.
Le président de la Fédération Béninoise d’Haltérophilie a exprimé toute sa satisfaction au regard du bon déroulement de la compétition. Gratien Gbaguidi s’est dit séduit par la maitrise des athlètes. « Je suis très satisfait par la qualité des compétiteurs. Ils ont eu une bonne maitrise de la barre. Nous avons désormais un vivier de jeunes haltérophiles sur qui nous devons compter pour l’avenir », a-t-il souligné. Il a par ailleurs promis que la Fédération mettra en place dans les jours à venir, une Politique nationale pour la formation et le renforcement des capacités des athlètes. «Nous allons travailler pour que les techniques soient bien appliquées. Nous devons aider les athlètes dans la formation», a-t-il rassuré, avant de remercier le Président de la République, à travers la personne du Ministre des sports, Oswald Homéky pour les nombreuses sollicitudes du Gouvernement, en faveur du développement du Sport béninois.

– 87 kg : 1er- Hébert Tolofon ; 2ème- Fadaïrou Chakiti ; 3ème- Joël Nassara
