Au lendemain du tirage au sort de la 27ème édition du Championnat du monde masculin de Handball Égypte 2021, qui s’est déroulé, ce samedi 5 septembre 2020, le Président de la Confédération Africaine de Handball (Cahb), le Béninois, Dr Arêmou Mansourou s’est prononcé sur les chances des sélections africaines à ce championnat du monde. Pour le patron du handball africain, les représentants du continent ont diverses chances.
D’abord, il a regretté que la Confédération africaine de Handball (Cahb) ne puisse parvenir pour cause de pandémie liée au Coronavirus à réaliser le programme concocté avec l’appui de la Fédération internationale de Handball pour préparer les représentants africains. En effet, ce programme prévu sur 12 mois, devrait prendre en compte l’assistance technique et matérielle requises pour une préparation efficience en vue d’une participation assez honorable.
« Cette démarche visait essentiellement à mettre en confiance les pays qualifiés pour la 1ère fois : le Cap-Vert et la Rd Congo ; les autres qui sont habitués à ce genre de forum qui comporte deux catégories sont répartis en deux catégories : Celle des pays considérés comme de grandes nations sportives : l’Egypte et la Tunisie qui ont marqué de façon significative leur présence dans les compétitions de catégorie d’âges. Nous avons aussi, les pays qui renouent avec la haute performance après une absence passagère sur l’échiquier international : l’Algérie et le Maroc. L’Angola quant à lui, devient une nation régulière à ces joutes mondiales et affiche un progrès à chaque édition. Dans l’un ou dans l’autre cas, je reste optimiste que notre participation sera très honorable et restera gravée dans la mémoire des acteurs africains ».
