Les Fédérations internationales s’adaptent à l’évolution de la crise sanitaire au Coronavirus. C’est ainsi que la Fédération mondiale de la discipline (Bwf) a publié un calendrier des tournois 2020 remanié à la suite de la suspensions des tournois au cours des derniers mois en raison de la pandémie de la Covid-19. En effet, en étroite collaboration avec les associations membres et les confédérations continentales, les Internationaux de Badminton du Bénin sont maintenus et auront lieu du 16 au 19 septembre 2020 alors que les Championnats d’Afrique U19 auront également lieu au Bénin du 20 au 27 septembre à Cotonou.
« La tâche n’a pas été facile et la BWF tient à remercier tous ceux qui ont participé à la recherche de solutions pour reprogrammer les compétitions internationales » ; indique Thomas Lund, secrétaire général qui ajoute qu’il était difficile de prévoir quand les restrictions internationales aux mouvements et à l’entrée seraient levées par les autorités. Pour le président du Comité exécutif de la Fédération béninoise de badminton, « la santé, la sécurité et le bien-être de tous les athlètes, de leurs entourages, des officiels et de la grande communauté de badminton continuent d’être la priorité ».
