Le Bénin a un nouveau champion de boxe. Clément Loko alias la Panthère rouge a décroché son premier titre de champion d’Afrique ce dimanche 27 octobre 2019 au Palais des sports du stade de l’amitié Mathieu Kérékou devant le Togolais Fatiou Sarouna au bout de 6 rounds.
Organisé par Magie Production group, le gala de boxe uppercut 2019 a offert un combat professionnel titre en jeu, version World professionnel boxing federation (WPBF) dans la catégorie plume. Et le maigre public d’amoureux du noble art qui a effectué le déplacement, a pu admirer la détermination, l’envie et la technique du jeune boxeur Béninois Clément Loko (26 ans) devant le Togolais Fatiou Sarouna (33 ans).
On a peut-être assisté à la naissance d’un nouveau grand champion d’Afrique au bout de cette soirée riche en combats. Mais, il devra confirmer ce statut de champion dans six mois avec beaucoup plus de maîtrise technique et de travail. Car, devant le Togolais, le Béninois a fait un combat trop prudent et tactique qui pourrait ne pas être suffisant devant un adversaire plus entreprenant et plus rapide.
Dans ce combat, c’est Clément Loko qui sera mis au tapis dès le deuxième round et sera compté par l’arbitre nigérian Jacobson ADE. Après, il va reprendre ses esprits et réussir des touches. Et arriva le 6è round, où tout va basculer. Après avoir acculé Sarouna dans les cordes, Loko va multiplier les coups pour obliger le Togolais vacillant à mettre le genou au sol.
Ce dernier va être compté par arbitre qui va décider d’arrêter le combat jugeant que le Togolais est en train de perdre la vision. Une décision que va contexte l’entraineur de Sarouna devant les médias estimant que son poulain était encore en mesure de continuer. Le palais des sports jubile, Loko, à genoux au centre du ring n’a pas pu contenir ses larmes.
Il a décroché son premier titre de champion d’Afrique au bout d’une soirée ponctuée de quatre combats amateurs et deux combats professionnels dont un avec titre en jeu. Dans la catégorie des minimes, il y a eu trois combats amateurs (3 rounds d’une minutes chacun). Le Béninois David Agbetomey gagne aux points devant le Togolais Mouftaï sarouna.
Victoire aussi aux points du Togolais Fation Sarouna devant le Béninois Osias Agbétomey. Le troisième combat minime de la soirée a vu la victoire aux points Béninois Prince Agbatomey devant un autre Béninois Iréné Kolé. Dans catégorie des welters, Pascal Otchoun du Bénin (26 ans, 67 kg, 4 combats et 4 victoires) bat le brouillon et assez bon encaisseur Nigérian Jamiu Wasiu Abiola (33 ans, 76 kg, 7 combats, 5 victoires et 2 défaites) aux points au bout de 8 rounds de trois minutes chacun. Le Béninois a ainsi enregistré sa cinquième victoire en autant de combat.
